Door County Dining in Sister Bay: Breakfast, lunch, sweets and coffee at Drink!

July 1st, 2009

drink_coffee_09

Drink Coffee, newly relocated between Moretti’s and the Door County Ice Cream Factory Scoop Shop, is a great place to start the day in Sister Bay. Owner Rachel Haas features organic coffee and espresso drinks, juices, teas, breakfast torte, scones and pastries.

Come back for lunch and you can enjoy their generous sandwiches like their Almost Famous Artichoke or Grilled Tomato & Cheese. Or choose a Greek Salad and a cup or bowl of homestyle soup (a favorite is Asiago Bisque). Then for dessert treat yourself to one of Rachel’s  cookies (she is the CookieLadyOnline.com, afterall). Her Sugar Cookie is rich and buttery; the Cherry Queen is a classic oatmeal batter with, Door County dried cherries and walnuts. This cookie is so good its’ recipe was requested by a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reader! Sample the newest cookie - the Monster Cookie. The Monster is a delectable combination of peanut butter, oatmeal, M&Ms and chocolate chips…MMMMM.

Drink Coffee is open from 7AM - 9PM Monday thru Saturday. 7AM - 5PM on Sunday. You can call in with orders to go: 920-854-1155. And you can check out their menu here.

Door County Waterfront Dining & Entertainment: Fred & Fuzzy’s Waterfront Bar & Grill

June 10th, 2009

Guest Blogger: Asche Rider of Fred & Fuzzy’s Waterfront Bar & Grill

Fred & Fuzzy’s is a Waterfront Bar & Grill located on the edge of Little Sister Bay and a neighbor to Inn at Little Sister Hill in Door County, Wisconsin. Open daily at 11:30 a.m., our grill serves continuously until 9 p.m. We offer casual indoor & outdoor on-the-water dining, complete with sunsets, premier storm watching, and Cherry Juice Margaritas. It’s perfect for soaking up sunshine on lazy afternoons; grabbing lunch or a quick bite before a show; or sipping a cocktail in a front-row seat for the sunset. People come to enjoy the naturally stunning beauty of the county, the Tuesday night entertainment, a simple tasty meal, and to relax. Our casual ambiance complemented by the natural scenery feels like a slice of paradise.

Tuesday nights find The Nicks firing up their vocal chords and guitar strings from 7-10 pm, while their friends jump in with the occasional keyboard, saxophone, fiddle or drums. Their repertoire ranges from haunting and melodic to beats you can’t help but wiggle those hips to.

Wednesdays and Fridays we feature a perch fry. For the super hungry we recommend the Perch Plate ($14.50) which is more than most can eat and is delicious! For lighter fare try the Perchwich ($9.95). We lightly bread and deep fry each piece to compliment and highlight the tastiness of the fresh lake perch.

Come catch a few rays of sunshine with your lunch, or check us out at night! We feature cocktails and prime seating for sunsets (mother nature dependant), all within easy distance of Inn at Little Sister Hill. Either way, we look forward to seeing you!

Cherry blossoms in Door County means spring has arrived!

We, the staff of the Inn at Little Sister Hill, may be biased but we think Sister Bay is the perfect place to spend your vacation. The reasons are many, so we are going to give you a few:

1)    Sister Bay’s fabulous public waterfront in the center of the village, featuring boat rentals, kayak rentals, sand beach, summertime concerts and so much more. Plenty of room for picnics and tossing a Frisbee.
2)    Picturesque backroads for biking
3)    Sister Bay Historical museum offering a glimpse of village life in years gone by.
4)    Restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream for every budget and taste. From custard to cookies to Swedish pancakes to gourmet dining. Sister Bay has it all.
5)    Art galleries and specialty retail shops galore. A stroll through upper Sister Bay as well as the village center reveals the soul of community.
6)    Festivals and special events all year long.  In Sister Bay we celebrate our Scandinavian heritage, our beautiful spring time blossoms, Amish quilts, folk music and more.
